Dear ,
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends. John 15:13, NIV
On Veterans Day, once known as Armistice Day, we honor all of those who serve in the United States Armed Forces.
Armistice Day, proclaimed by President Woodrow Wilson in 1919, was to remind the Americans of the tragedies of War. In 1939, a law was passed to make it a federal holiday. Later, the name was changed by Congress in 1954, to honor all American veterans of all wars.
Veterans Day does honor every American man and woman that has served our country in any armed forces. It is celebrated on November 11, the end of World War I (1914-1918). There are celebrations on Veterans day with speeches and parades. And, special services are always held in Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia, at the tomb of the Unknown Soldier where a wreath is placed at the Tomb of the Unknowns by a color guard made up of members from each of the military services.
While those who have passed away are certainly remembered on this day, Veterans Day is primarily intended to thank those Veterans who are still living for their time in service to America. In fact, it is said that today there are over 24 million Veterans who have served and reintegrated back into society. Please, if you know a Veteran, give them your personal thanks today for their service to our great country.
As you give thanks to those, and for those, who have served America today, take inventory of how you are serving others. What sacrifices is God asking you to make so that you can demonstrate his love and make an eternal difference in the life of someone else as our Veterans have made a difference in our lives?.
Blessings, Steve <><

Some Parting Fun.... |
In ww1 there were no communications gadgets yet, so to send a message a runner was used.
During this time a capt. sent a message to the rear , saying "send us reinforcements were are going to advance"
Since this message was relayed via five runners, when it finally reached the CO, the message was repeated like this:
"send us refreshments we are going to a dance"
