You are the salt of the earth, but if salt has lost its taste, how shall its saltiness be restored? It is no longer good for anything except to be thrown out and trampled under people's feet. With the election coming up next week, the question has been asked: "Do Christians have a responsibility to vote?"
My thought is, "Absolutely!" If we are to be the salt and light of the world, it is our duty to vote with purpose, and to do what we can to influence our culture. Unfortunately, historical trends suggest that many Christians do not take their role in the "government by the people" seriously and refrain from casting their vote. They believe that their vote will not count, or, there are no candidates who fully embrace their values so it doesn't matter.

When the righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; But when a wicked man rules, the people groan. Proverbs 29:2
On November 6th we have the opportunity to determine whether we will groan or rejoice through the elections we make for those who govern over us. Every vote does count, and it is our responsibility to make a serious effort to elect candidates who are best aligned with Biblical values to lead our localities, states and nation. There may not be a perfect candidate but, putting aside party affiliation, look at each candidates' position, lifestyle, and ideology to see how they line up with God's blueprint as revealed in His Word.
Pray about your vote, choose the person who best aligns with Christian values, then pray for those elected to receive God's guidance as they govern our great land.

Some Parting Fun.... | |
Two boys were best friends at church, but they both had a reputation for getting into trouble. One Sunday, one of the boys was home sick, but the other boy, not wanting to let his friend down, was twice as bad as normal.
As he was running through the sanctuary after church, the pastor grabbed him and angrily said, "Where's God?!"
The little boy was frightened and didn't know what to say.
The pastor continued, "I want you to go home and think about it and I don't want you to come back until you can tell me where God is."
The boy went home and called his sick friend on the telephone.
"Guess what," he said. "They've lost God, and they're trying to blame that one on us, too."
