Harness the Power of Your Personal Brand
During AWCNJ's Fall Kickoff 

Join AWCNJ on Wednesday, September 30, 6:30-9:00 pm, to kick start the new programming year! Our evening will include dinner, networking and an opportunity to learn about an exciting mentoring program offered exclusively to AWCNJ members. It takes place at the Greek Taverna Restaurant, 292 Bloomfield Avenue, Montclair, NJ.

In addition, there will be a discussion of key issues that professionals, especially women, should consider as they go through different stages in their careers and learn tactics to deploy for professional resume building with marketing pro Caryn Warner.

Caryn Warner 
A leader with over 25 years of experience, Caryn Warner spearheads the marketing for Verisk Insurance Solutions/ISO Claims and Crime Analytics. As part of the Verisk Analytics family of companies, which ranked 18th on Forbes 2015 World's Most Innovative Companies list, Caryn is the primary strategist and manages the marketing communications department for a wide range of businesses offering risk assessment services and decision analytics for insurance professionals.

Kelley Green to Attend 
2015 AWC National Conference

Kelley Green, AWCNJ Secretary, will be representing AWCNJ at the 2015 AWC National Conference in Kansas City in October.

Kelley, a longtime member of AWCNJ, is beginning her term as Board secretary. She is deputy chief of staff at Prudential Financial Chief Investment Office, previously was Director of Internal Communications.

The conference keynote address will be given by Nanette Braun, chief of communications and advocacy at UN Women, the organization mandated with advancing women's empowerment and gender equality worldwide.

Kelley has promised a full report when she returns from the conference. Safe travels, Kelley!

Join by November 15 to save $70  

Are you:
  • A communications professional who's thinking about joining the Association for Women in Communications, New Jersey Chapter (AWCNJ)?

Now is the perfect time to join or rejoin. During the Membership Drive, our parent organization, the Association for Women in Communications, will waive its $50 application fee, and AWCNJ, your local chapter, will waive our $20 chapter dues. That's $70 you won't have to pay if you join before November 15. 

There are five categories of AWCNJ membership:
  • Professional communicator (employee): $129/year (55 cents a day)
  • Self-employed entrepreneur: $114/year (51 cents a day)
  • Executive communicator: $189/year (71 cents a day)
  • Retired communications professionals: $34/year (15 cents a day)
  • College students and recent graduates: $34/year (15 cents a day)

Mentoring Circle and a One-to-One Mentoring Program
Laurel Bernstein
Led by executive coach and chapter co-president Laurel Bernstein, AWCNJ's Mentoring Circle will provide expertise in starting/running/developing your career or business during four monthly two-hour sessions beginning in January.

There is no cost to participate, but enrollment is limited. New members who join AWCNJ by November 15 will be given priority. Participants must attend the first session to be considered for the program 
Walk with AWCNJ and Celebrate Heart Health
2015 Essex Heart Walk Supports Fight
Against Cardiovascular Disease and Stroke
Join team captain Fran Hopkins and other chapter members on Sunday, October 25, to take part in a fun family event and take a stand against heart disease and stroke.

This non-competitive walk (one mile or 3.1 miles long) will take place at the ADP Campus in Roseland from 8 am to noon. The AWCNJ team welcomes members, non-members, family and friends.

Yvette Bigornia

AWCNJ co-president Yvette Bigornia recently ran the Crossroads of New Jersey 5K/10K Race in Woodbridge and won a silver medal in her age category for the 10K (6.2 miles). She is currently training for the Staten Island Half Marathon, which takes place Sunday, October 11. You can learn more about her health and fitness adventures in her blog:
