Obama energy team being remade
 | | Steven Chu |
Just as the president is building new national security and foreign affairs teams, he's expected to remake his energy team. Observers predict that Secretary of Energy Steven Chu will announce his resignation as early as this week. Environmental Protection Agency administrator Lisa Jackson has already announced she's leaving soon.
"Former governors and senators are going to be high on the list for both jobs," independent consultant Paul Bledsoe told The Hill, because they have advantages in the approval process: lawmakers have relationships in Congress while governors' executive experience can help secure GOP votes.
Possible Chu successors at Energy include former Colorado Governor Bill Ritter, former Senator Byron Dorgan of North Dakota, John Podesta, who was President Clinton's chief of staff, and Deputy Secretary of Defense Ashton Carter.
