Volunteers Make The Difference!

THANKS JOEL!

We want to extend our sincere appreciation to Joel Ottosen, Vice President of Castle Insurance, for his six years of service as a board Joelmember with the Fox Valley United Way. Since 1993, Joel has been a professional volunteer with the United Way, first with the United Fund of Yorkville and then joining the Fox Valley United Way when it was created following the merger in 2005 of the United Funds of Yorkville and Plano with the United Way of the Aurora Area. He has just completed his year-long tenure as Vice-Chair of our board, but will continue to serve on several United Way committees.

Thank you Joel for your tireless efforts to make a difference in the lives of your Fox Valley neighbors!

ADVOCATE

Help save the charitable donation tax deduction!

The Charitable Deduction as it currently exists in the federal tax code has been placed on the table as a possible source of revenue during the ongoing federal deficit reduction negotiations.

The landscape on these negotiations has been changing almost daily. United Way Worldwide has been working to keep the Administration and Congress informed about the importance of the deduction for incentivizing charitable giving.

We are engaged in direct communications with lawmakers and we are working in coalitions to protect the deduction. Click on this link to see an open letter by Independent Sector, and signed by Brian Gallagher, regarding the deduction and program cuts.

Look up your State Senator and State Representative here!
