We Welcome Two New Board Members

You probably already know them - they're both active in the Fox Valley community - so you'll know how pleased we are to welcome Mary Rudnicki and Maria De León to the Fox Valley United Way Board of Directors.

Mary and Maria 2Maria is the community liaison for U.S. Congressman Bill Foster.  Her strong connection with the Hispanic community has led Maria to be an active member of both Compañeros en Salud and the Latina Health Festival Steering Committee since 2005.  She also is a member of the Executive Committee of the Aurora Hispanic Chamber of Commerce and of Aurora's Hispanic Heritage Advisory Board.

Prior to teaming up with Rep. Foster, Maria was interpreting services supervisor at Aurora's Provena Mercy Medical Center.

Mary Rudnicki, an RN, is a veteran community health professional whose work has centered on care for the underserved.  She is on the School of Nursing faculty at Northern Illinois University, DeKalb, and was regional community health director for Provena Health's Northern Illinois region.

Now the head of her own community health company, Sugar Grove-based Rudnicki Consulting Services, Inc., Mary has been director of health services at Aunt Martha's Youth Services Center, Aurora, and a staff nurse consultant for the Kane County Health Department.

The Fox Valley United Way's Annual Recognition Breakfast, scheduled for May 20th is a sell out! It is our opportunity to pause and recognize our hard-working volunteers and indispensable sponsors.
This year we'll be honoring:

Those whose financial contributions have made a difference (which is everyone, really).  The Top Contributor Award goes to Caterpillar.

J
ewel-Osco, Wrigley and the Aurora Fire Department will be among those receiving Community Action Awards, given to those whose special efforts had an important impact on the Fox Valley United Way.

We'll also recognize our Outstanding Community Volunteer - but that winner's name is a secret until the Breakfast.
