The Sheriffs are back!

Sheriffs Dick Randall (Kendall County) and Pat Perez (Kane County) agree to return as Fox Valley United Way Campaign chairs for 2009-2010.
"The community did a great job of donating to Fox Valley United Way to support the families and individuals who needed our help last year," Sheriff Perez says, "and we're proud to have helped raise more than $1.3 million last year." But, Sheriff Randall added, "The recession is still with us. There's still work to do. Pat and I are staying on because the need is staying on." The fact is that too many Fox Valley families are fighting to save their homes. Too many single Moms are worrying about feeding their kids - and providing shelter. Too many teens are at risk. Too many seniors need assistance. The community's support last year was heartwarming. You can continue that support by making a donation to our 2009-2010 campaign at www.uwfoxvalley.org.

Aurora brothers Sriram and Santan Katragadda earned
our eternal gratitude - by organizing a talent show that raised $2,000 for the Fox Valley United Way's Fund Raising Campaign!
The brothers, who brought more than 60 of their friends together to stage and perform in a special Kids Talent Show, attend Fischer Middle School in Aurora. The idea for the show grew out of a family trip last year to India, where the poverty and homelessness the boys saw inspired them to do something to help people who needed help in their own community.
We are inspired by these two young men and their vision to LIVE UNITED and make a difference in their community! Good job guys! |

In March 2009, the Dunham Fund established the Dunham Emergency Assistance Fund at Fox Valley United Way to help address the unprecedented increase in demand for emergency food and shelter services during the current economic downturn.
To seed the emergency fund, the Dunham Fund provided an initial $50,000 outright gift and challenged Fox Valley United Way to raise additional emergency funding to be matched by the Dunham Fund up to $100,000.
By early July, Fox Valley United Way had met the challenge and the Dunham Fund recognizing the need was even greater than originally anticipated, provided an additional $100,000 for the fund. In all, $350,000 has been allocated to local social service agencies providing direct services to those in need of food, shelter, or rental assistance.
