Global Running Day Celebration!
All4Run Day
Every day has a story, a reason to celebrate. Some days are noted for important moments that changed the course of history while others highlight the seemingly insignificant (May 18 is National No Dirty Dishes Day - a great excuse to eat out). It seems natural that runners should have their own day, but like the high-achievers we are, a national celebration isn't enough.  This year, we're going global!

Wednesday, June 1 is officially Global Running Day - a day that encourages runners to declare their passion for running by...going for a run! So far runners from 118 countries around the world have pledged to go for a run in celebration of the sport we love as well as to encourage others to take strides towards leading healthier, fitter lives.

Under the rallying cry of "All4Run", Fleet Feet stores across the nation are organizing runs on June 1 to showcase the breadth, importance and influence of running communities across the country. Here in Hartford, we are partnering with our friends at the Hartford Marathon Foundation, Riverfront Recapture and Nike to host a special FREE Global Running Day Celebration.

The All4Run event will take place at the Riverside Park in Hartford from 5-7pm. Riverside Park is one of the jewels of Hartford as it is home to not only the boathouse, but many miles of runnable trails and paved paths along the Connecticut River.  Beginning at 5:30pm, we will host a variety of fun runs on those trails and paths, along with a special kids-only fun run where they will race the mascots from our local sports teams. Afterwards, runners will be treated to ice cream, cake and lemonade, as well as special demonstrations, product demos and a raffle.  The entire event is FREE!

Grab some friends, pack a picnic basket and join in a fun run that spans the world!

Asics Lite Show
Panache Sports Bras
Up. Down. Sideways. When you move, so do your breasts. Repetitive bouncing can stress, stretch and irreversibly damage the Cooper's ligaments leading to breast droop. Invest in a good sports bra like this one from Panache available in cup sizes from B-F.
Life on the Run
Saucony's Life on the Run Collection is pure luxury! Fabulous fabrics and stylish fabrications to make you look and feel amazing whether you are going on a run, to the gym, yoga or dinner. You will fall in love with the Speedy Chic tank in burgundy and the plaid Fast Track capris.
Asics Lite-Show
Hey guy's - it's time to update your running wardrobe! Asics Lite Show running top is perfect for early morning or late night runs. It is maximal visibility with all-over tonal colored reflective print. Pair it with your favorite Asics running short in a variety of lengths!

Garmin vivoactive HR - Brand New!
Garmin vivoactive HRHowever you move, Garmin's new vivoactive HR smartwatch can keep up!  The GPS-enabled built-in sports apps tracks your run, walk, bike, golf and ski stats without a phone connection while smart notifications & smart coaching allow you to stay connected so you can keep your life in balance.  The biggest upgrade to this watch is the wrist-based heart-rate technology so you can ditch the chest strap.

In addition to the usual GPS tracking, the vivoactive HR tracks your activity throughout the day by counting steps AND floors climbed, as well as monitors sleep and calculating intensity minutes. The stylish watch also features a sunlight-readable, high-resolution touchscreen, customizable watch face designs and a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 8 days in watch/activity-tracking mode or up to 13 hours using GPS.

Get to Know Your Fleet Feet Staff: Natalie!
Natalie joined the Fleet Feet crew back in February of 2012 and consider it my happy place. I currently wear lots of hats at the store as the Assistant Manager,  Fun Run & Track Workout Leader as well as Marathon & Half Marathon coach (can you tell I love working with runners?).

Originally from Florida, I have been a New Englander since 2005, aside from a brief sojourn to Colorado (where this picture was taken on one of my favorite running trails). Fun fact: I am a triplet and an adult-onset runner whose greatest run dream is to complete the Mount Everest Marathon (it does exist!) with my sisters.

Running Gear I Can't Live Without:
The running gear that I can't live without is a toss-up between my CEP Compression Sleeves (a must-have when training for a long distance race) and Yurbuds so I can blast my music without disrupting the person next to me)...though, I'm considering upgrading to the fancy new JBL wireless headphones we now carry so I doesn't have to deal with irritating cords when I run.

Aubrey's Recipe
Get Out N' Play Logo
Cheeseburger Salad

Before you roll your eyes at the recipe title, consider this a deconstructed cheeseburger, akin to a taco salad. Take your ground meat, flavor it with ketchup and mustard, toss in some red onions, tomatoes and pickles on a bed of lettuce for a meal. I've made this recipe when I've had leftover hamburger patties in the fridge from the previous night's grilling. It's a unique way to use the leftovers and doesn't involve reheating the patties in the microwave.
