KUDOS: Clay County appointed a Home Base Iowa county
Celebratory event to be held 3/25 at Spencer National Guard Armory

Clay County has officially been designated a Home Base Iowa Community! Governor Terry Branstad and Lt. Governor Kim Reynolds made the announcement at a gathering in Fort Dodge last Friday. A committee of community leaders have been working collaboratively over the last several months on obtaining Home Base Iowa designation for Clay County. The standards for obtaining HBI designation are: signing 10% of the businesses in Clay County, developing a welcome/incentive package for veterans, designating where Home Base Iowa signs will be located in the county and garnering a resolution of support from the county. The incentive packages include travel vouchers for job interviews, rental assistance, reduced utility services, discounted closing costs for purchase of new home and additional resources. Representatives from Clay County, the city of Spencer, Spencer Chamber of Commerce, Iowa Lakes Community College, IowaWORKS, ESGR volunteers, Community Housing, local employers and the Iowa Lakes Corridor all participated in organizing and planning. For more information about the program in Clay County, visit the Iowa Lakes Corridor website. Click here.

A celebration and informational event on the Home Base Iowa program in Clay County will be held on Wednesday, March 25th  from 10:00am - 11:00am at the Spencer National Guard Armory.
