Holiday Tree Program Winners Announced
At the AACA Museum
Vista School Tree
Hershey, PA (January 7, 2015) - Congratulations to the winners of the Antique Automobile Club of America (AACA) Museum's Holiday Tree Program contest! We are happy to announce the top three schools that received the most votes this year:
1. Vista School (344 votes) 2. Northern Dauphin Christian School (223 votes) 3. Cornwall-Lebanon School (182 votes)
Each year here at the AACA Museum, we invite local schools to pick a theme and decorate a tree with ornaments created in their school art program. Visitors to the Museum are encouraged to vote for their favorite tree throughout the holiday themed Cars & Christmas exhibit. The three school trees that receive the most votes are rewarded with a gift card for their school; first place - $200, second place - $100, third place - $50. All students who participate in the creation of ornaments for their tree receive a complimentary ticket to visit the AACA Museum during the holidays. We would like to thank PNC Bank for their continued support in sponsoring this program. PNC Bank is committed to supporting education programs, particularly early education initiatives serving low-and moderate-income children with their "Grow Up Great" initiative.
This year, we had the following schools participate: Harrisburg Christian School, Cornwall-Lebanon, Northern Dauphin Christian School, Mill Road and Bainbridge Schools, Harrisburg High School, and Vista School. The winning tree designed by students at the Vista School included a variety of ornaments based on the theme of Autism awareness. Students from the Northern Dauphin Christian School had a traditional Christmas themed tree and students from Cornwall-Lebanon had a theme related to "Stomp out Bullying". All the schools did an outstanding job creating unique ornaments and themes for their trees - they're all winners!
New for 2014, we were excited to showcase a tree created by The Ronald McDonald House in Hershey. It was a great opportunity to provide the community with awareness for their organization and the important services that they provide for those in need.
Didn't get a chance to visit over the holidays? No problem, The AACA Museum will be gearing up for our Community Weekend, from January 17-19, where guests can participate in our Museum wide scavenger hunt to locate your favorite "Cars" from the Disney-Pixar Cars movie that are hidden throughout the Museum - How many can you find? Kids of all ages will love the interactive photo stop where you can pretend to drive a vintage car or truck. Our Roads to Rails model train display offers many scenes and lots of buttons to push that run a variety of special effects. We'll also be busy getting ready for our next featured exhibit Lotus: The Art of Lightness that will open on January 24th so you may catch a sneak peak at a couple of these vehicles while you're here to whet your appetite for a return visit. Best of all we offer a discounted admission price for the community, admission is just $7 per person January 17, 18 & 19.
