The opportunity to massage a woman during her pregnancy is truly a gift! Many questions arise about the safety of massage during this time and what special positioning and techniques should be considered. This class will answer these questions and more. Topics covered will include:
~positioning the pregnant client;
~trimester recommendations;
~precautions & contraindications;
~reduction of musculoskeletal strain and pain due to pregnancy; and
~ nurturing the pregnant woman.
Kaelyn Curran is a certified Pre & Prenatal Massage Therapist and currently the Director of Enrollments at Kali Institute of Massage & Somatic Therapies from which she holds over 750 hours of instruction, including 600-Hour Somatic Therapist Certification. She has been practicing massage therapy since 2011, though she has had an interest in it since childhood, and pursues each opportunity to further her somatic studies. After observing how our issues, whether physical or emotional, often trace back to our birth she opened her services to the world of labor and received training as a Birth Doula in 2014. Kaelyn believes we can each be empowered if we allow ourselves permission to do so, especially in the process of birth, and the experience can truly transitional. She recently established her private practice in Ventura and is on track to become a Midwife through Bastyr University.
Materials needed: 4 regular bed pillows or 1 body pillow + 2 regular bed pillows in addition to sheets and lubricants.
