CPIA Members Encouraged to Participate in New Intern Program
& Apply for Partial Reimbursement from CDLE
 
Colorado Department of Labor has opened a new program to partially reimburse advanced industry companies for internships. Qualified interns will be enrolled full-time in a secondary school, adult education, college (undergraduate), certificate/training program or have graduated within the past six months. Companies must apply and receive approval for reimbursement prior to the start of the internship. CPIA will be available to assist companies through the process. More Information. Boulder SBDC TechVentures Training Series
 
TechVentures Series is designed to help businesses accelerate their growth and development and overcome growth hurdles. The following topics will be discussed: sizing market opportunities; managing channel strategies; business model innovation; growth issues; how to build a team and retain, manage and compensate; benchmarking and tracking progress; protecting intellectual property; commercialization strategies; strategic alliances; key resources and key partnerships. Materials utilized for the program include Business Model Generation by Osterwalder & Pigneur and materials from Kauffman Center for Entrepreneurship's FastTrac Program. Space limited. The Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) announced grantees for the Advanced Industry Accelerator Grant Program. A total of $4,634,779 will be awarded for the Proof-of-Concept and Early Stage Capital and Retention Grants to support Colorado's advanced industries. Read press release.

Congressional Visits Day (CVD) is a two-day annual event that brings scientists, engineers, researchers, educators, and technology executives to Washington to raise visibility and support for science, engineering, and technology. Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) Program Reauthorization
 
Although the SBIR/STTR programs aren't set to expire until 2017, the Small Business Technology Council (SBTC) has been pushing to get a reauthorization bill passed a year early, in 2016. Read more.
