CPIA Annual Meeting
Photonics Pioneer Robert Knollenberg

Over a hundred people attended the CPIA annual meeting November 3 to hear a brief report of CPIA 2015 activities (view report), honor Merc Mercure and Robert Knollenberg as "photonic pioneers" (read press release), and select 3 outstanding student winners from thirty-two presenters in the annual photonics research poster contest (view a list of all posters). Poster contest winners, pictured below with CPIA President, Ken Anderson, are Simeng Chen, Torrey Hayden and Callie Fiedler.

Changes in CPIA Board of Directors

At the annual meeting, two new members were elected to join the CPIA Board of Directors in 2016. We welcome Chris Wood of KMLabs and Rex Craig from Ball Aerospace & Technologies.

Due to changing job focus at Colorado Office of Economic Development and International Trade, Abby Pitzner has been appointed to replace Robert Whalen as representative from OEDIT Advanced Industries. During his tenure on the board, Mr. Whalen provided a vital link between state government and CPIA, involved CPIA members in Advanced Industry committees, and worked with CPIA on a survey of the industry. His contribution is much appreciated.

Brian Knollenberg will be leaving the board in January, ending fourteen years of service as a Director of CPIA. Knollenberg served as President of the board in 2013 and 2014. He has been active on the Education/Employment, Communication and Awards committees. We regret that his demanding work schedule prevents his continuation as a member of the CPIA highly involved, working board.
