1. Applications Invited for Governor's Award for Excellence in Exporting Application Deadline April 17 Colorado's Office of Economic Development and International Trade (OEDIT) is currently accepting applications for the 2015 Governor's Award for Excellence in Exporting. More information. 2. April 10-12 - Winter Park Colorado Ultrafast Photonics Initiative The Colorado front-range region has, over the past 10-15 years, accumulated one of the largest concentrations worldwide in the science, technology, and applications of ultrashort pulse lasers. The objective of the Colorado Ultrafast Photonics Initiative (CUPhi) is to bring together Colorado researchers and students from the broad spectrum of disciplines that use ultrafast lasers, to discuss science, stimulate a sense of community, and inspire new collaborations. The workshop format will include broad overview talks, along with poster sessions to allow ample time for discussion. Everyone who uses ultrafast lasers is encouraged to come. More information. 3. 2015 Photonic Sensor Revised and Expanded Market Report According to a new market report completed by the Photonic Sensor Consortium the distributed fiber optic sensor market stood at $585 million in 2013. The market was projected to approach $1.5 billion in 2018 with 70% associated with the oil and gas segments. The sudden and unexpected drop in oil prices will negatively impact the market with the overall forecast falling short of the $1.5 billion forecast. In the expanded report, the market is broken down for DTS, Bragg grating, DAS, interferometric and Brillouin scattering technologies in relation to the various market segment applications (oil and gas, military, homeland security, smart structures, etc.) More information. 4. May 19 - Denver World Trade Day This year's theme, "Advancing Colorado around the Globe," will feature global business opportunities for Colorado's most innovative and advanced industries in our state - Advanced Manufacturing, Aerospace, Bioscience, Clean Technology/Energy, Electronics, Engineering/ Infrastructure, and Information Technology. |
