CRAFT NEWS

New Board Member

At its October meeting earlier this week, the Board of Directors welcomed new member Micki Whelan.  Many of you may know Micki who creates lovely jewelry, and more recently is fashioning eyeglass accessories. Micki lives in Biddeford, Maine where she is on the Boards of the Maine Crafts Association and also Engine, a dynamic artist cooperative in Biddeford. Micki brings us a wealth of craft world experience and a welcome gust of enthusiasm!  We are so happy she is joining us!

Membership

Because CRAFT was not actively pursuing membership renewals earlier this year, many members who usually renew at the winter shows missed their renewal date and are currently expired. We are trying to get all memberships up to date before the launch of the new website (which is in it's final stages). You may be receiving a call over the next week as we try to wrap up renewals. If you are unsure about your membership, you can log into the current CRAFT website to see your expiration date or email rani@randomactsart.com.

PICTURES, PLEASE

Our quest for wonderful craft pictures continues.  We are looking for high resolution ACW photos to accompany magazine requests as well as our 2015 printed materials.

ACW also wants high definition video showing your events.

CRAFT needs pictures for its new website which will be ready in just a few weeks as well as cover photos for its Facebook page.

AMERICAN CRAFT WEEK

American Craft Week is in its final weekend with a huge number of events across the country. Many participants are reporting good crowds and a growing appreciation for the handmade work of American artisans.

Each year we have an annual ACW contest.  This year we asked folks to submit a "glamour shot" of craft along with a one word adjective to describe it in order to best complete this sentence: American craft is...? The response and entries were really terrific, so we will be sharing one each week at the end of this column.  Enjoy!
