Help with Artist Promotion at NYIGF

CRAFT members are working hard on the program to promote American handmade and expand buying from artists at the January NYIGF.  We have submitted a list of criteria to the show promoters that will allow exhibitors to be designated as American Handmade in the program book and in the online listing.  We are supposed to hear their response within the coming week.  As soon as the criteria list becomes official we'll publish it in It's Friday.

Now we are working on wording that can be adapted by NYIGF for their blogs, magazines and publicity.  It will highlight the program and give reasons why stores should carry American handmade.  NYIGF will first target those stores who express an interest in American made with this program.  We would like to tip them further to consider American handmade.

Have you read an article, written an article or just have some great ideas for reasons why someone who has never sold American handmade should do so?  Please send them to us.  We'd love to offer NYIGF a variety of material to adapt and use.  Email to kshohler@gmail.com.  And thanks!

CRAFT Professional Development Conference

at ACRE Las Vegas

Wholesalecrafts.com plans to reinvent the ACRE Las Vegas show by inviting the Craft Retailers & Artists for Tomorrow (CRAFT) organization to conduct its first annual professional development conference at the South Point during the day on Tuesday, April 30, with ACRE Las Vegas opening in the evening. Preliminary plans for this 1-day intensive event include CRAFT producing the lineup and securing the speakers, with Wholesalecrafts.com being the major sponsor. Both artists and retailers will be invited to attend, with reduced ticket costs for ACRE Las Vegas artist exhibitors and CRAFT members.

Read the Wholesalecrafts.com newsletter for more details on this and the change in date & venue of ACRE Las Vegas.

Gallery News - Don Muller Gallery

On September 1st, longtime manager Maya MacLachlan has officially taken ownership of the Don Muller Gallery. Don has retired after 35 successful years of gallery ownership. He looks forward to traveling, fishing, skiing, and spending more time with his family. MacLachlan joined the Don Muller Gallery while in graduate school at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where she earned a master's degree in art history. For the last dozen years, she has served as the gallery's director.
