LETTER FROM THE PRESIDENT

Dear MCAers,

I can't believe it is December already...what a busy year it has been for the St. Louis Chapter of the MCA-I!

First, a big "Thank You" to all our hosts and presenters this year. We couldn't have done it without you.

Second, a big "Thank You" to all of you who attended our meetings. We are always glad to see you!

Finally, a big "Thank You" to the Board of Directors for dreaming up and putting together the meetings.  I am glad I could rely on you!

We started off the year with a meeting on sexual harassment on the film set, and then had more new meeting topics such as a SAG/AFTRA meeting, a Job Fair for Media, and a Hollywood Connection meeting.  We also had some perennial favorites such as the State of the Industry and a Music Video meeting.  There were lots of other meetings too, and we are always open to your suggestions...just contact a Board of Directors member to tell them what meeting topic would be helpful to you!

The Board of Directors also made a video to compete in the Shameless Self-Promotion Contest held by the International (MCA-I), and we won second place!

We had MCA-I come to St. Louis for the International organization's yearly conference in June and a ProCamp in October.  We were asked to host another ProCamp, and this one was a great event with a great giveaway of Adobe CS6 Production Premium (value $1899) which was won by Wayne Armstrong of the Cape Girandeau chapter.

We ended the year with our regular party at a new location, Pat's Bar and Grill in Dogtown, and on a new day of the week, Saturday,   We were glad to have IATSE co-sponsor the party because we got to see so many more people to share Holiday cheer.  And, no, I didn't pick the location just because it was so convenient for me!

The future is always under construction, and in a world that is uncertain, isn't it nice to know that the St. Louis Chapter of the MCA continues to be there to provide the educational programs, networking events, and social gatherings?

Have a Happy Holiday, and MCA will see you on January 9th for the 1st meeting of the new year!

HOLIDAY PARTY IN REVIEW

It was wonderful to celebrate with so many people from the local film community including our friends at IATSE Studio Mechanics Local 493, who co-sponsored the event. The writers, readers, actresses, and actors from Script Mechanics, also stopped by after their regular workshop and reading,

It was fun to have the party on a weekend night rather than our usual week night because we got to see so many people, and people could come and go according to their own schedule and other obligations of the season.

Pat's Bar and Grill, a Dogtown institution, is definitely a keeper as the place to hold the party!  We has the whole second floor to ourselves and our own bartender, who we kept busy. There was also lots of food early in the evening.

What a wonderful way to end the year!
