Thanks to you, second chances are possible for "harder-to-adopt" pets!
Recently, we reached out to our community to help spread the word about our harder-to-adopt pets. We are thrilled to report that many of our long-timers are now living the life they are meant to live - as treasured family members in loving homes. Since May 1st, over 300 animals have been adopted from our Santa Rosa and Healdsburg Centers! Check out just a few of the furry faces who have recently found homes (and some who are still waiting!) When you support our programs and help us spread the word about our adoptables, you play an active role in saving animals like Mopsy and Roxanne (see Happy Tails below!) Still waiting to meet your match? We currently have some amazing friends waiting to meet you, like Mason and Momo for instance! Meet these inspiring dogs who don't let life on three legs slow them down. Read more...

Squeaks of the week!
Guinea Pigs Walter and Jessie came to us when their owner left for college and couldn't take them with her. Not to worry! The social, easy-going pair have left the building in the hands of these capable kids who are also adept in caring for a cat, a dog, a bunny and some chickens!

Roxanne's Purr-fect Match
Roxanne landed at SHS in 2014 when her guardian passed away. As one of our longer-term guests, the sensitive 7 year old had been waiting for a quiet home where she wouldn't have to be worried about dogs, kids or other cats. She also requires a special urinary support diet to stay healthy. Neither of these factors were an issue for this sweet couple who adopted the lovely Roxanne from the Healdsburg Center last month!

Home Sweet Home for Mopsy!
Mopsy was suffering from painful bladder stones when she first arrived at SHS. Surgery helped her feel better and she soon regained pep in her step. It took two other adoption attempts before we found just the right home where this vision-impaired sweetie could feel, well, right at home! Her adopter reports that she's doing just that, and even has a new name for her new life: Charlotte Mae!

Happy Tails From Healdsburg!
Majestic's family had recently lost their dog who they adopted from SHS and were looking for a new companion. When they saw Majestic's photo, she reminded them of their Nala, so they came in to meet her. Majestic was on hold for another family who soon decided it wasn't the right time to adopt. The family waited patiently and when they got the news, they rushed in and scooped her right up!
See who else needs a home!

Training Tip: Wait
Door-dashing is a favorite sport of most dogs. It is just so exiting to get to the other side. But in addition to being irritating to us, it can also be dangerous. Sometimes what is on the other side is a busy street. The wait cue teaches your dog to pause or stop at the doorway until you give the all clear. Our Training Team is here to help with a roster of fun classes and workshops. Click here for details!
