The mission of The Episcopal School of Knoxville is to prepare students for higher education and a lifetime of learning within the context of a loving, inclusive and family-centered community. We enrich our students' intellectual, physical, cultural and spiritual growth so that they may realize their potential as children of God and citizens of the world.

Sixth Grade Dinner Theater

The Sixth Grade Dinner Theater performance of "No Body to Murder" was a rousing success. All the cast members did a great job! Thanks to music teacher Deb Sousa for directing the play and to the kitchen staff for the wonderful dinner of spaghetti, garlic bread and salad. It was a great evening all around!

Thanksgiving Assemblies

The Thanksgiving holiday will begin Friday, Nov. 22, at noon for kindergarten students and at 3/3:30 p.m. for everyone else. Please note the events planned Friday, including our Kindergarten Feast, Kindergarten Performance in Googe Hall and our annual all-school assembly at 1:45 p.m.

Fantasy of Trees

Be sure to head down to the Knoxville Convention Center over the Thanksgiving holiday and check out the ESK tree at the Fantasy of Trees: Christmas on Main Street. Part of an annual tradition, ESK's tree this year is decorated in a "Pop Art" theme. Students in all grade levels are working on ornaments during art. Ornaments range from papier mache ice cream cones and cupcakes to hamburgers and other ornaments inspired by such pop art artists as Keith Haring and Andy Warhol.

The event runs Nov. 27- Dec. 1 at the Knoxville Convention Center and costs $12 for adults, $6 for children ages 4-12 are $6 and children under 4 are free.

A Big Thanks!

Maestra Rojas wanted to send a special thank you to all those Lower School families who donated extra Halloween candy for the piņatas the children enjoy in the weeks prior to Christmas Break. Donations totaled nearly 200 pounds of candy!

Snow Closing Policy

If we experience rough winter weather, please remember our snow closing policy. We do not follow the public schools' snow day schedule. Based on hazardous road conditions, we may be closed for the day or may open late. School closings or late opening announcements will be made via our Parent Alert text, Twitter alerts and voice mail system as well as on local radio and television stations by 7:00 a.m. If road conditions deteriorate later, the school may announce that it is closed for the entire day. Therefore, it is important to keep listening for updates.

Four years ago Ryan Steadman, a current ESK fifth grader, started a business named Work Builders, which makes building block sets for kids. All along he's shared half his earnings with local charities. Wanting to do more for kids less fortunate, he then created the "Work Builders Block Party", a community volunteer project making building block toys for kids in need. Through his two previous block parties Ryan has donated over 200 sets of building blocks to charity. This year you can help him make block sets that will go to Helen Ross McNabb Center. While you're at Winterfest, spend a little time at the block party and help support kids in our community! Check out Work Builders on Facebook!

Heifer International

In the spirit of ESK and Thanksgiving, ESK Sixth Graders Leoni Kunz, Bailey Musrock, Addie Dewhirst, Karina Ottaviano and Mason Stivers made and sold earrings, bracelets, and scarves. The group earned almost $ 300 and sent a girl to school through Heifer International in honor of their 4th grade teacher, Mrs. Hoover, who always encouraged them to do good things.

Webb Musical

Congratulations to the following former ESK students and alumni Uma Sood, Ellis Whinery, Erin Wallace, Will Lauver, Christoph Ewing, Kate Shumaker and Craig Wallace, who were a part of the Webb School of Knoxville's fall musical production of "The Mystery of Edwin Drood." It was a great production!
