The mission of The Episcopal School of Knoxville is to prepare students for higher education and a lifetime of learning within the context of a loving, inclusive and family-centered community. The Scholastic Book Fair is Next Week

ESK will host the Scholastic Book Fair from Nov. 11th-15th in both the Jane L. Pettway Library in Googe Hall and the Clayton Family Library in the Brewington Family Lower School. The fair in the Lower School will run from 7:45 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. each day, while the fair in the Middle School runs from 7:45 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. Both will run through Thursday, November 14. Information regarding students shopping during class time was sent home in an email this week.

Scholastic Book Fairs get our students excited about reading, as well as supplement our library budget. It is also a great deal for customers because there is NO TAX on book fair purchases. You might consider making some of your holiday gift purchases here, and we will be happy to get your books to you discreetly.

If you are unable to come to the fair, you may also shop at our online Book Fair. Online purchases are subject to sales tax; however, there is no shipping charge. Your purchases will be shipped directly to ESK, where we are happy to hold on to them discreetly until the holidays. Follow the link or get to it from the ESK homepage.

Winterfest to Include a Block Party for Charity

Four years ago Ryan Steadman, a current ESK fifth grader, started a business named Work Builders, which makes building block sets for kids. All along he's shared half his earnings with local charities. Wanting to do more for kids less fortunate, he then created the "Work Builders Block Party", a community volunteer project making building block toys for kids in need. Through his two previous block parties Ryan has donated over 200 sets of building blocks to charity. This year,

you can help him make block sets that will go to Helen Ross McNabb Center. While you're at Winterfest spend a little time at the block party and help support kids in our community!

Congratulations, Lucy!

Congratulations to Lucy Tyler, our founding second grade teacher, for being named the statewide Educator of The Month! We all agree it is well deserved and couldn't happen to a nicer person. Lucy has always gone the extra mile to bring out the best in her students. It is apparent in the number of students who return to visit her each year. A teacher touches many lives, and Lucy has been a positive force for all those who know her.

Support Art in Your School! - DEADLINE EXTENDED

It is Original Works time again! For those of you new to the school, this is an opportunity to have your child's art on a product such as a t-shirt or night light. The merchandise is of good quality and very popular among our students. All profit goes toward the ESK art program. In the past, we have been able to buy pottery wheels and a printing press with your support.

Lower School students should have received a packet earlier this week, and Middle School students can obtain a packet from Mr. Hoffman. Your child has the liberty to complete artwork at home as well. The work must be 8-1/2 x 11 and on card stock-- no glitter, metallic colors, or three-dimensional material. This opportunity will last until Nov. 11 - SO ACT NOW!! Checks should be made out to ESK and returned to your homeroom teacher. Please support art in your school.
