The mission of The Episcopal School of Knoxville is to prepare students for higher education and a lifetime of learning within the context of a loving, inclusive and family-centered community. We enrich our students' intellectual, physical, cultural and spiritual growth so that they may realize their potential as children of God and citizens of the world.

Another week has come and gone around here at ESK! It's hard to believe how quickly the weeks seem to be flying by. With Fall Break next week, it won't be long before Thanksgiving and Christmas will be upon us. As the year continues, so does the activity and learning at ESK.

Blessing of the Animals

It was a great morning at ESK as several hundred pets were on campus last Friday to take part in the annual Blessing of the Animals event in honor of St. Francis. Students, faculty and family in attendance participated in a short service while Chaplain Josh Hill along with guests John Tirro, The Reverend Chris Hackett and Brad Jones blessed each pet. Thanks for a great turnout! Be sure to check out the ESK Facebook page to see coverage of the event from WATE!

Scoreboard Installed

Thanks to a generous donation from Pilot Corporation and the efforts of ESK staff and parents including Ken Smith, Blair Kline, Fiser, Inc. and Kelly Headden, the ESK Athletic Department completed the installation of a new scoreboard for the football and soccer fields at the entrance to the school. The scoreboard was a great asset during the flag football tournament and improved the game day experience for fans and players alike!

Alumni News

ESK Middle School Director Kevin Foley and 2013 graduate Eli Fox pose with the Purple Martin birdhouses in the background.

Fox Completes Eagle Scout Project

2013 ESK graduate Eli Fox recently installed several Purple Martin birdhouses on a pole at the garden for his Eagle Scout Project. Eli said his project involved building and installing housing at the organic garden area of The Episcopal School of Knoxville to attract breeding purple martins. Once purple martins nest at a location, they will come back every year if the site is built and managed properly. "My project will benefit ESK by providing a resource for organic and natural pest control in the garden at ESK. Purple martins eat large quantities of insects, which they hunt and eat on the fly," Eli said. There is also provided an educational display in the garden area that discusses the importance of the purple martins and care of the purple martin houses so that care of the houses will continue into the future. Eli and friends and family spent nearly 100 hours working to complete the project. Great job!
