Tech News

Tech Lab Donation

Many thanks to the Koella family and Herron-Connell Insurance Agency for their recent donations to ESK's technology program.  We were able to purchase a new computer for the lower school library as well as Makerbot's new digitizing scanner.  This tool will allow students to scan an object, create a digital file that can be manipulated with 3D modeling software, then print it out on ESK's 3D printer.  Want to learn more about our 3D design tools and instruction?  Check out www.makerbot.com.

New Parents Web

Parents may have already noticed ESK's new, redesigned Parents Web.  An improved, custom interface will make it even easier for parents to keep up with their student's information and events and happenings at ESK!  If you have any questions about the new Parents Web, contact Susan Denton (denton@esknoxville.org) or Julie King (king@esknoxville.org).

Sustainability Fact of the Week

DID YOU KNOW?

null As the weather begins to change, our heating and cooling needs do as well. One way you at home can help keep cooling and heating cost down is with the Nest Thermostat. Most people leave the house at one temperature and forget to change it. So Nest learns your schedule, programs itself and can be controlled from your phone. Teach it well and Nest can lower your heating and cooling bills up to 20 percent. ESK is piloting a NEST in the tech lab to see if we may use it in other classrooms. The best part about the NEST is that you can control it from your phone and monitor all of its functions from wherever you are. Please read more about the NEST here.
