Innovation is critical for economic growth, but it also becomes increasingly important for addressing major development challenges. Given its global role, developmental mandate, and combination of public and private sector expertise, the World Bank Group is uniquely positioned to play an important role in helping countries build their innovation capabilities.


IEG's 2013 Annual Report is now available. It shows that 2013 has been a year of great accomplishments in IEG. It reports on IEG's knowledge-sharing initiatives and its continuing effort to improve. Learn more about IEG's activities, achievements, and outlook for future work.

NOTEWORTHY
IEG just released an update to our WB Project Performance Ratings Database. This database lists all Bank project assessments done by IEG. It has more than 10,400 project assessments, covering about 8,600 completed projects; it is one of the most comprehensive project performance data collections of its kind.

IEG's pictorial on WB project performance was selected as Tableau Public's "Visualization of the Day", for October 7.

The Director-General of IEG reports directly to the World Bank Group's Board of Directors. The goals of evaluation are to provide an objective assessment of the results of the Bank Group's work and to identify and disseminate lessons learned from experience.
