forestA decade ago, the World Bank Group shifted its approach in the forest sector by putting poverty alleviation and sustainable economic development on equal footing with conservation. After a decade of implementation, IEG has evaluated the progress made and results of this approach.

In late February, IEG declassified almost 3000 project ICR Reviewslevel assessments dating back to 1997.  You can access these "ICR Reviews" and "Evaluation Memoranda" on IEG's website.

The Independent Evaluation Group (IEG)
s charged with evaluating the activities of IBRD and IDA (the World Bank), the work of IFC in private sector development, and MIGA's guarantee projects and services. The Director-General of IEG reports directly to the World Bank Group's Board of Directors. The goals of evaluation are to provide an objective assessment of the results of the Bank Group's work and to identify and disseminate lessons learned from experience.
