Q. What is going on in your work life right now?
Jenny: We currently are forming our entire digital strategy approach. Since joining my agency nine months ago we quickly realized there was no actual 'approach' we lived by. We now are implementing a strong content and strategy approach to all of our clients and really asking the tough questions about what digital technology to implement for each client and not just doing it because it's "always been done that way". Change can be very hard for traditional clients but moving them forward has been so rewarding.
Q. What role (if any) does sports play in how you do your job? Jenny: Growing up sports had an enormous impact on my life. After playing basketball for 12 years it drastically how I approach life and my work ethic. A quote I lived by then and now is "Fall in love with the process and the results will come", which essentially to me means that if you are willing to put in the work to become great at something the results will always follow. Q. Where do you turn for inspiration or ideas? Jenny: I love blogs! The world of blogging is so interesting to me because it gives you a peak into other's lives. I especially love art, fashion, lifestyle and well-being articles/blogs. I think the way you can grow in your industry/area of expertise is by absorbing the world that you don't experience every day.
Q. What technology can you NOT live without? Jenny: Sadly it's really just my cell phone! I'm constantly on it if it's just to look something up quickly or I love the app Pocket that allows me to save articles I don't have time to read at the moment but don't want to forget about either! When you take a step back it's really amazing how much information we have at our fingertips.
Q. What did you learn as a Rising Star nominee through the Technology Association of Iowa's Women of Innovation awards? Jenny: The biggest thing I learned is that you are not alone. I think it's very easy to say you want to collaborate but actually collaborating with others is a vastly different thing. It was a great reminder of the amazing things women are doing in tons of industries right now and how much further we can benefit from working together. If you want to go fast go alone. If you want to go far go together. |
