Welcome to the First
Indoor DCFM of the Season!
The Monona Terrace will be the home of the Dane County Farmers' Market (DCFM) until the market moves to the Madison Senior Center in January. You'll find over 70 DCFM vendors in the Ballroom of the Monona Terrace during market hours from 7:30 am to 12:00 Noon.

In addition to the terrific produce, bakery, cheeses, meats, and plants, many vendors bring craft and gift items to the Monona Terrace Market. This is the only market where vendors are allowed to do so. These non-edible ag products are still required to be produced by the seller with materials substantially sourced from the seller's farm or business.

Parking, ATM, Information Table
There is parking adjacent to Monona Terrace. You can also find nearby street parking and a number of municipal and private ramps.

An ATM is located in Monona Terrace. Ask at the Monona Terrace information booth, directly inside the doors to the main entrance. The DCFM information table is located either directly outside or inside of the market, depending upon where in Monona Terrace the market is located.

See you at market!

Check out this quick and delicious salad!

Total Time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

2 tablespoons butter

5-6 small pears from the market

1 tablespoon brown sugar

½ cup Hickory or walnuts from the DCFM

2 cups arugula or spinach

½ - ¾ cup blue cheese

3 tablespoons white wine vinegar

Directions:

  1. Caramelize pears in either microwave or on stove. To caramelize in the microwave, slice pears into bite size pieces and place in microwave safe bowl with white wine vinegar, butter, brown sugar and walnuts. Microwave for 1 minute, stir and microwave for an additional minute.
  2. Slice blue cheese into small pieces.
  3. Add cooled pears (and juices from caramelizing), arugula, and blue cheese together.
  4. Mix well and enjoy!

by Nimz

Serves 4-6

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds Brussels sprouts, cleaned, finely shredded julienne (I cut mine into slices and it worked fine)
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 3-4 garlic cloves, finely chopped (of course add more or less depending on your taste)
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • salt
  • fresh ground pepper

Directions

  1. Over medium heat, sauté the garlic in the butter for about a minute then add the Brussels sprouts and saute until wilted, about 7 minutes. We like to cook until they get a bit brown which took about 10 minutes.
  2. Add salt and pepper to taste.
  3. Add cream and serve.
  4. Feel free to adjust proportions to suit your taste!

Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteers are needed to staff the Information Booth, beside or near the main entrance to the market. It's easy, fun, and you get to meet many interesting people.

If you'd like to find out more about this fun way to get involved with the Dane County Farmers' Market, drop an email to dcfminfobooth@gmail.com.

The shifts are short. The people are fun. And it's a great way to learn more about the Dane County Farmers' Market.

SNAP/EBT Services
The DCFM works with the  Community Action Coalition to operate the SNAP/EBT services. Volunteers are needed to staff the table. This is an important service that hundreds of people depend upon so that they can buy their fresh, local, groceries from the DCFM. If you would like to help out or if you'd like more information on how you can use this program, contact Lexa Dundore at lexad@cacscw.org or call (608) 246-4730, ext. 208.
