Dear Katchkie Farm CSA Members,

CSA Truck Team Suzannah and Andrew are taking the week off again (whew!) to bring you this newsletter's farm update from The Sylvia Center's Education Director and Garden Manager, Julie Cerny:

"Season's change is always bittersweet for the farmer. While the farm breathes out it's last breath, the farmer breathes a sigh of relief. After our first hard frost this weekend, only the hardiest of vegetables remain standing and the farm has a completely different feel to it. Slow and quiet.  Cold and still. The sun comes out and gives just enough warmth and light to help the brussel sprouts, cabbage, and broccoli make their way to harvest size. The end is near, and while we're certainly ready for a break, we don't mind that the next few warmer days we're expecting will remind us of the busyness of summertime.

Stay warm,
Julie"

We hope you're ready for this Sunday's Just Food CSA Smackdown competition! All of the spots for this round are taken, but feel free to stop by and cheer on your favorite CSA culinary team. The event will be held at the catering kitchen at our office from 3-5 PM. Please meet us at Mae Mae Cafe at 68 Vandam Street. See you there!
