Apple iOS9 Users Quick to Block Ads. Not a fan of ads when you're surfing the web on your phone? The day after Apple released iOS9 which supports ad-blocking extensions, ad-blockers are rising fast to fill the top paid app slots. Read more on PC Magazine
Apple and IBM's latest partnership is about helping Japanese seniors with iPads - This is a great way to use technology to help people The project will employ iPad apps written by IBM and integrated into Japan Post's existing services, helping seniors coordinate services like household maintenance, medical services and caregiving. Japan Post is the country's largest postal delivery services, and also handles many basic caregiving services for seniors. The new apps will also integrate with existing Apple services like FaceTime. Japan Post CEO Taizo Nishimuro described the goal as "designing experiences that are easy to use for seniors, the kind of intuitive experience the iPad is famous for." Read more on The Verge.
Google Hires a "Car Guy". Self-driving cars are on the way. Google gets serious and hires an industry veteran. John Krafcik, who previously was CEO of Hyundai Motor America and a product development executive at Ford Motor (F), will be the CEO of Google's self-driving car program. Read more on CNN

Data security doesn't stand still. Learn about what's new in patches.
"Patch Tuesday" is the day each month that Microsoft releases their newest security updates, typically the second Tuesday of the month (September 8). This month there were five "critical" and seven "important" security patches affecting Microsoft Office and Windows. Remember that security patch updates are required for the MA Data Security Law and other industry security compliance standards.
