Greetings!
Every week we bring you happenings in Downtown Miami. There is an extra special event taking place next Tuesday, June 4th which we want to highlight and share with all our Downtowners. Bella Rodriguez-Torres inspired the world to "Live Like Bella". Bella was just 4 years old in 2007 when she became paralyzed and diagnosed with stage 4 Alveolar Rhabdomyosarcoma. Her parents documented her life and those she touched along the way in the facebook page : "Pray for Bella" Among the many that were touched by Bella's love and positive energy is City of Miami Sgt. Javier Ortiz. On Tuesday, June 4th St. Ortiz has organized "Bella 2013", a St. Baldrick's event. On June 4th, there will be a kickoff and the men and women of the Miami Police Department will have their heads shaved to stand in solidarity with kids fighting cancer, but more importantly, to raise money to find cures. The public in invited to join the St. Baldrick's team to raise money to fight childhood cancer. If you want to raise money and become a "shavee", they would love for you to sign up! click hereSoon after the kickoff, select members of the Miami Police Department will depart on a 160 mile bike ride to Key West to raise more funds for this worthy cause honoring Bella. The event will end at the Southernmost Point in Key West. We hope to see you there!
Please wear red...

 | | Unveiling in early June |
We had been anticipating the full installation and unveiling of "Flora" last week. The decision was made to wait a week or two in lieu of the high level of activity in the area. In the meantime, final finishing touches have been made to "Flora" and the beautiful pedestal on which this priceless 25.5ft sculpture will be placed.
"Flora" will be nestled between Museum Park and the AAA facing Biscayne Boulevard. "Flora" will be installed and covered during the next week to be revealed during a weekday evening in early June. We will keep you updated and hope you will join us as we welcome this masterpiece to DWNTWN.
