A Message from Bishop Sean

Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ:

Two weeks ago, the diocese issued the report of an independent consultant who had conducted a "listening process" that the Standing Commission had initiated as the 17-year episcopacy of Bishop Paul Marshall came to an end. The report you read is the report that the Standing Committee and I received. We did not edit it, nor did we compose a cover letter because we did not want to influence how the report was received. We did not outline the ways in which the diocese would respond to the report, believing that would be premature.

Now that people across the diocese have had an opportunity to reflect on the report and form their own opinions, I want to assure you that while the listening process is over, the listening has just begun.

Trepagnier to be Canon for Administration and Communication

Jo Trepagnier will be the new canon for administration and communications in the Episcopal Diocese of Bethlehem, Bishop Sean Rowe announced on Tuesday.

Trepagnier, a member of the Cathedral Church of the Nativity for 15 years, has been the office and building manager for the Church of the Mediator in Allentown for 13 years. She is also a conference administrator for the CREDO program of the Church Pension Fund. Before moving to the Lehigh Valley in 2000, she worked for the DuPont Company in Delaware for 20 years in manufacturing, finance, human resources and information technology.

"I am delighted that Jo has accepted this call," said Bishop Rowe. "Her experience in both the church and the corporate world will help us make Diocesan House more responsive, efficient, and focused on serving congregations."

Parochial Reports Past Due
Treasurer Charlie Barebo writes:

"In 2015 we will be moving back to the participative budget development format successfully used by our diocese in the past. This year, we ask your help in getting the reports submitted by the deadline specified in the Episcopal Church canons which is March 1. In this way, we begin the process of returning to a transparent and inclusive manner of budget development that is in accordance with the Church Manual of Business Practice. Your support is invaluable. Please help us by submitting your Parochial Report on time."

Email Charlie Barebo with questions.
