Liaison

Does Walton's size sometimes make it feel impersonal or overwhelming?  Would you like for it to feel more personal and smaller?  Do you remember "Room Reps" who sent you specific information about your child's class? Well....the WHS Foundation is here to help! The Foundation is bringing Homeroom Liaisons to Walton, beginning with the 2016-17 school year!

All that is needed is you! We will need a "Parent Liaison" for each homeroom to help bring a more personal touch to your experience at Walton. We want to make our large school feel small! If you are interested in being part of this important effort, or if you would like more information, please contact Robin Perry at

As the 2015-16 School Year Comes
To A Close........

We want to thank you for your support and provide a few highlights of our accomplishments over the last 11 months.  By working together, we "Made A Difference"!

1)  To date, we have raised a total of $212,000 to support our various initiatives. This is a fundraising record for the Walton Foundation.  It would not have been possible without your incredible support and generosity.

2)  Throughout the year, we had 60% of the Walton Community participate in at least one of our campaigns.

3)  We have received $111,400 to-date for Class Size Reduction at Walton.  If we are able to hit $126,000, (just another $14,600), we will be able to re-hire 3 part-time teachers for the 2016-17 school year. Our fiscal year does not end until June 30th, so if an additional 116 families were to give $125, we could ensure that our class sizes will remain steady next year. Although our goal was to reduce class sizes for the upcoming school year, we are hopeful that we will be able to at least maintain our current class sizes so that the Class of 2020 will enjoy the same benefits of reduced class sizes that the Classes of 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 did this year.

4.)  The 1st Annual Dinner & Auction helped successfully kick-off our Class Size Reduction Campaign. We would once again like to thank our local businesses for their donations and support.  This was truly a community event that brought everyone together for a single purpose: to support our students and teachers through class size reduction.

5.)  We were able to establish the Technology Fund, which has received to-date $35,471.50 in donations.  We were able to purchase 60 iPads ($34,440) in order to ensure that every classroom has an iPad to enhance classroom instruction.  We currently have 11 iPads for student use. The additional $1,031.00 in the account will be used to purchase additional student loaner iPads for the coming year.

6.)  The Raider Brick Campaign is providing supplemental funds to be used toward additional technology initiatives for Walton while enhancing the entrance to Raider Valley (see below).  Now that we have completed the new signage for Raider Valley, all proceeds from the bricks will be going toward improving technology. We intend to purchase portable iPad/iPhone charging stations for students and additional communication/media devices for the new building.

The Walton High School Foundation's mission is to provide Walton High School with supplemental resources to enrich and enhance the student experience through class size reduction, technology advancements and classroom improvements/support.  While the school year is coming to a close, our fiscal year remains open until June 30th.  If you would like to make a contribution, please click here.

We would like to close by wishing our sincerest congratulations to the Class of 2016 and their families. We wish you continued success.  We also want to welcome the Class of 2020 and their families.  We look forward to working with you to continue to promote student achievement for your students and Walton in the coming years.

THANK YOU To Our Wonderful Volunteers

We would like to thank our wonderful volunteers for supporting the Foundation throughout the year.  From helping to stuff Survival Kits, to working WEB Concessions, to stamping hands during Fresh Air Days, our volunteers make it all possible.

We especially want to recognize the following 2015-16 WHSF Board Members for their dedication and countless hours of service to both the Foundation and to Walton this school year:

Irene Barton, Jody Buter, Lisa Carrodus, Cindy Cho, Beth Dierker, Jene' Gladstone, Dana Greenberg, JoAnne Hammermaster, Hilary Hill, Kristin Hipp, Benedicte Juston, Lori Kramlich, Neysa Lee, Susan Leingang, Roberta Manheim, Judy McNeill, Patti Morgan, Kristina Newby, Alison Paul, Heena Patel, Noelle Paramoure, Heather Rees, Vonda Shoemaker, Nichole Smith, Debra Tant, Kat Wilson, and last but certainly not least, Sallie Winokur.

Thank you for the wonderful response we have received for the newly created WHSF Student Leadership Council.

We would like this council to reflect the entire student body.  We would love an additional 10 freshman students to apply, if interested, as well as 5 more juniors.

The responsibility of the council is to work together and with the Foundation to create and implement marketing strategies and plan activities that benefit Walton High School.  The Foundation is organizing Walton's Amazing Race, based on the popular TV show.  It will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2016. It will be followed by a wellness fair in Raider Valley. The students applying to this council will begin by helping us plan this event. We anticipate that the students will donate 4-6 hours of their time over the summer. They will also help us with other activities for Walton throughout the year.  If your student is interested in applying, please click here.  The applications are due by May 18th.

In addition to receiving hands-on experience in team work, community building and marketing, students will also receive community service hours.
