Today is Giving Tuesday
What began as a simple fundraising idea has flourished into a huge global
campaign to raise awareness for nonprofits.
As you receive emails from your favorite non-profits today, please consider adding the Walton High School Foundation to the list.
Your support helps promote student success via smaller class sizes, technology in the classroom and various health & wellness initiatives.

Service Hours through x2vol in Naviance
Part 9 of a series,
"Naviance Tips for using Family Connections"
The last "Naviance Tip" addresses the x2vol site where students will now record their volunteer service hours. Volunteer service hours represent an opportunity for your student to gain valuable experience in the fields that interest them. Encourage your student to seek out service opportunities that help them evaluate the topic or type of work that they are considering for a career. If your child thinks they may want to teach, they could tutor ASP kids through the Walton Community Outreach Club or if construction or project management interests them, Habitat for Humanity may
be a good choice.
It's never too early to start skill-based volunteerism. If students can use their talents and interests to serve others, they enjoy the experiences, learn a lot and make a valuable contribution to our community. Plus, these experiences also build their resume.
There is a field in x2vol that your student can use to record their reflections of their service experience when they are submitting their volunteer hours. Encourage them to take a minute and thoughtfully enter their impressions, things that happened that might have moved them, skills or competencies they may have learned or practiced, what they enjoyed or did not enjoy. These reflections could help them refine their self-discovery process and also are great topics for essays for college or scholarship applications!
