College Exploration in Naviance
Part 7 of a series,
"Naviance Tips for using Family Connections"
Once students have built their lists of colleges they want to consider in the Family Connections COLLEGE tab, they can access institution profiles, maps, and multimedia student experience testimonials. The COLLEGE tab includes a comprehensive list of web resources about colleges, financial aid, FAFSA, test preparation, college athletics, military options and other key topics in the college admissions process. The College Lookup function allows students to search for and browse in-depth college profiles. Profiles can include multimedia such as video tours, photo slideshows, and student diaries, plus information about application deadlines, financial aid, majors and programs of study, and student life.
The College Match function suggests colleges other students are applying to that match the colleges on a student's "Colleges I am Considering" list. College Compare will eventually sho how many WHS students have applied to and been accepted to colleges the student has place on their list of colleges under consideration. This information hasn't been compiled yet for WHS but we will begin to build a database from this year's WHS graduating class. Walton specific information will also be shown in College Maps which will eventually plot where WHS students were accepted, have attended and the top 20% of colleges that have WHS student alumni. It also plots Common App schools, Georgia schools, and shows students where colleges are located on a map from MapQuest. The Scholarship Search feature allows students to search for available scholarships with links to on-line applications and tracking.
