More information regarding Naviance's College and Career Readiness Program connects Learning with LIFE!

In the last edition of the WHS Foundation 411, we discussed the Career Interest Profiler, one of the self-discovery tools within the Naviance Family Connections platform that helps students learn about their strengths and reflect on their interests. There are two other assessments that students can take in the "About Me" section of Naviance. The Cluster Finder survey tool can be taken repeatedly during a student's career at Walton. This tool helps your student learn what career clusters may be a good match for them based on activities that appeal to them, their personal qualities and subjects that they enjoy studying in school. A report is generated when the student completes the assessment that that shows the student's top three career clusters. The Platform allows the student to explore these categories and add intriguing clusters to a personalized list for more in-depth research.
The Gallop StrengthsExplorer is a 78 question assessment that can only be taken once. Gallup research has shown that engaging students in what they are interested in and where they excel will lead to the outcomes of better academic performance, higher test scores, and ultimately students' ability to reach their full potential after high school. The StrengthsExplorer assesses 10 talent themes for individuals and identifies each student's three strongest emerging talents, such as Confidence, Dependability, or Future Thinker. It provides explanations of these themes, strategies for capitalizing on each, and action items to help students gain insight into their greatest talents - natural patterns of thought, feeling, and behavior - to leverage in the classroom and in life. The Strengths Explorer was developed for students from the Gallop StrengthsFinder assessment for adults.
Socrates admonished us to "Know Thyself". Decades of research has proven that achievement and success strongly correlate with choosing a field that allows us to utilize our strengths. Naviance puts our students on the path to reach their full potential, starting with these self-discovery tools. Block out some time to check out these resources with your student soon.
