Walton hopes to bring Naviance to our school Fall of 2015!

Walton has wanted to bring this technology to our school for years, but has not had the funding. Your donations will help the Foundation with the implementation and training  for this exciting new technology that will benefit every student.

Naviance is a web-based service platform that benefits students, parents, counselors and administrators. It is currently used by most private schools in our area.

For Students:

  • Personalizes learning goals and provides course plans
  • Tracks college applications
  • Makes available scholarship search/match database

For Counselors:

  • Tracks and analyzes admissions results

Studies Prove Smaller Class Sizes Bolster Students' Success

While the benefits of smaller class sizes have been immediately evident in the number of science labs, foreign language classes and Socratic seminars enjoyed by Walton students throughout the 2014/15 school year, please click on the following link to read more information regarding the importance of class size reduction in student achievement:

Per the article above, "One comprehensive report, done for the United States Department of Education, analyzed the achievement levels of students in 2,561 schools across the country. After controlling for student background, the only objective factor found to be positively correlated with student performance was smaller classes, not school size or teacher qualifications, nor any other variable that the researchers could identify. Moreover, student achievement was even more strongly linked to class size reduction in the upper grades than the lower grades."

In addition, "increasing class sizes...had a negative impact on the amount of critical and analytical thinking required in...classes, on the clarity of presentations, the effectiveness of teaching methods, the instructor's ability to keep students interested, and the timeliness of feedback, among many other key factors of educational quality."

Class sizes do matter and can impact student achievement.
