What if...

WHAT IF WE DIDN'T HAVE WHSF FUNDS?

  • College transcripts would take twice as long to print and send because we wouldn't have the new printers WHSF purchased in the guidance office.
  • Most foreign language classes would have over 30 students per class instead of an average of 25 per class.
  • There would not have been a remedial ninth grade LIT class that allowed more one-on-one attention while also preparing  these students to succeed in tenth grade LIT and beyond.
  • Our science labs would have over 28 students per lab. We are now at a maximum of 28 students with some labs having an average of 22 students in them. Three years ago some lab classes had over 34 students in them.
  • Without the Foundation's support, Cobb County School District may be only building a new gymnasium for Walton instead of rebuilding the entire school.
  • Our classrooms would be lacking: a Headliner Large Cajon, a new percussion piece; dry-erase verb charts, foam blocks and worksheet covers for Spanish; Motion Sensors for studying movement, velocity and acceleration, constant speed buggies and accelerating London buses for physics; economic books; two new Labquest devices which are stand alone electronic interfaces for data collection and graphical analysis; and a "resident artist" for our art classes. Take a minute to learn how our Foundation has enhanced Walton's science classes in the video seen here. Teacher Grant Video

WHAT IF WE DOUBLED the WHSF FUNDS THIS YEAR AND BEYOND?

  • All LIT classes, at every level, could be reduced to have less than 24 students to allow for more writing time and faculty attention, both of which are critical for college.
  • Walton may be able to purchase a state-of-the art college and career readiness platform to connect students' high school achievements and strengths with their goals after graduation.
  • Science labs would remain small.
  • Foreign language classes would remain small.
  • Walton would be able to begin exploring a one-on-one portable tablet/laptop device program for all students to utilize in the very near future.
