A Cinematic Leadership Trilogy
The third installment of the Chamber's new leadership initiative known as "Leadership at the Movies" returns next Wednesday, September 9, at the Bijou by the Bay theater across from the Chamber office.
Barbara Ellis, from the Center for Coaching & Leadership Development, will offer a unique program entitled "The Transformational Power of a Leader." Using scenes from the movie Braveheart, she'll talk about how leaders can inspire the people around them, propel them to new personal and professional heights and energize teams around a common vision.
The first two Leadership at the Movies programs have been well -received by participants. It's a great way to start your work day with an inspirational message, some thoughtful discussion and networking opportunities with fellow Chamber members. The program is from 7:30 - 9 a.m. and free to Chamber members. Sign up here.

Save the Date for Alliance Speaker Series
Mark your calendars for Friday, September 25, for the finale of the 2015 Speaker Series presented by the Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance. The guest is Al Monaco, President & CEO of Enbridge Inc. that operates various oil and gas transmission lines throughout Michigan including the Mackinac Straits.
The program will be held at Boyne Mountain Resort in Boyne Falls. Details are being finalized and a specific time will be announced soon. Monaco has more than 30 years of experience in the energy business, and has served as president and CEO of Enbridge since October 1, 2012.

Pints & Politics Goes Local
The next installment of the Chamber's new Pints & Politics event coming up September 24 will have a decidedly local flavor. The Chamber will welcome various Traverse City officials, including city commissioners, the city manager, clerk, Light and Power representatives and others to meet with our members from 4:30 - 6 p.m. at Right Brain Brewery at 225 E. Sixteenth Street in Traverse City. It's free to Chamber members and you can sign up here. Pints & Politics will wrap up for the season on October 19 in a session with officials from Grand Traverse County, also from 4:30 - 6 p.m. at Right Brain Brewery. Register here.

Remember Your September BAH
Do you remember that Wednesday in September when the Chamber family gathers for the return of Business After Hours? It's September 16 from 5 - 7 p.m. at Cambria Suites at 255 Munson Avenue in Traverse City.
Business After Hours is the area's original after-work networking and business connection event that draws hundreds of attendees for an evening of socializing, food and refreshments. Our host Alex Mowczan at Cambria Suites always puts on great events, and this will be no exception.

A Small Business Lending Roundtable
The U.S. Small Business Adminstration's (SBA) Guaranty Loan Program is being utilized by small businesses across the country to grow their operations. The SCORE Traverse City chapter and SBDC Northwest will host a SBA financing roundtable on September 25 from 8:30 a.m. - noon at NMC's Parsons-Stulen Building to explain the SBA lending process and share real-life examples of SBA loan recipients. Venture North Executive Director Laura Galbraith is among the presenters.
