A Successful Debut for Pints & Politics
The Chamber's new "Pints & Politics" series enjoyed a terrific launch this week. Thanks to our elected officials who attended including First District Congressman Dr. Dan Benishek, State Senator Wayne Schmidt, State Representative Bruce Rendon and staff for U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow. It offered a great opportunity for our members to meet with their legislative leaders in an informal setting to discuss the issues facing the local business community.

Two more Pints & Politics session are coming up, including:
  • Thursday, September 24 with Traverse City officials
  • Monday, October 19 with Grand Traverse County officials
Pints & Politics takes place from 4:30 - 6 p.m. at Right Brain Brewery in Traverse City. Registration is free for Chamber members. Sign up here.

Chamber Welcomes Senator Peters
Transportation funding, health care and more were on the table as U.S. Senator Gary Peters sat down last week with more than two dozen Chamber members and local officials. Sen. Peters made several stops in Northern Michigan last week to introduce himself and his staff to area business leaders and elected and appointed officials.

Sen. Peters said he's working to secure a local office in Traverse City that will be staffed by Leah McCallum, a member of the Chamber Young Professionals program who will serve as the senator's regional representative for more than 20 Northern Michigan counties. We'll update you with Sen. Peters' local contact information when the details are finalized.
