Win a Free Energy Audit from Consumers

Reducing energy costs at your business is an easy and efficient way to bolster your bottom line. Our partners at Consumers Energy are offering a Chamber member a free energy assessment in 2015 at their business, a service valued at up to $1,000.

  • Eligible companies must be a Consumers Energy small business customer with a facility up to 20,000 square feet.
  • The assessment will include energy and cost-saving estimates and estimated rebates.
  • Direct installation measures include programmable thermostats, LED lighting and exit signs, and faucet aerators.

Interested companies have until January 31, 2015 to apply. The application form includes contest rules and registration information. Completed applications can be submitted to the Chamber office in care of Chief Operating Officer Laura Oblinger.

The Traverse City area continues to gain state and national acclaim as a "foodie" town, and one of the Chamber's newest members is helping grow that reputation. Tina Zinn opened The Cheese Lady shop this fall at 600 W. Front Street in downtown Traverse City, expanding a small but growing Michigan-based franchise that features up to 150 different varieties of cheese and other specialty food items.  Learn more in this week's Member Story.

Celebrate 100 Years of the Chamber

The Chamber's Annual Celebration is always a special event - even more so as the Chamber celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2015.


Join us January 23 from 6 - 10 p.m. at the Grand Traverse Resort & Spa as the Chamber celebrates its Silver Anniversary. It will include the presentation of the Distinguished Service Award to a deserving member of the community, plus a full evening of great food and refreshments, a night of mixing and mingling with hundreds of business associates and sharing a century's worth of Chamber memories.


Register for individual tickets, 10-person corporate tables or suite-style cabanas to enjoy this special night.

Chamber Loan Helps New Food Business

Meet Eric and Amy Kolden, the newest recipients of a Sub Micro business loan from the Chamber. It's helping the young couple launch White on Rice, a food business featuring sushi and other Asian delicacies. The Koldens have big plans for their business, including the eventual launch of a food truck in downtown Traverse City. Learn more about their operation and available access to capital programs available through the Chamber.

The Mentor Program matches local business professionals with up-and-coming business men and women based on fields of study, career interests, personality and other factors.  Mentors serve as role models, coaches and advisors, and many of the associations grow into life-long relationships.

Offer Your Input on Division Street

Here's an opportunity to help shape one of the most-significant public infrastructure projects coming up in the Traverse City area - the long-discussed redesign of Division Street between 14th Street and the Grandview Parkway. The Michigan Department of Transportation will hold a second public input open house this Tuesday, December 9, from 4 - 7 p.m. at Munson Medical Center.


The state wants to hear from local residents and the business community to help develop the best plan going forward. Learn more about this project and how to get involved.
