A Century Worth Celebrating
One hundred years of growing business and building community in the Grand Traverse region is something to be proud of. Join the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce for a special Annual Celebration on January 23 at the Grand Traverse Resort and Spa. The event's "Then and Now" theme highlights what promises to be a special evening of reflection, honors and fun.
We've made some upgrades for this year's event. We'll maintain the popular strolling dinner and mix-and-mingle format, but add a special sit-down program to spotlight our Distinguished Service Award recipient and to hear from our outgoing and incoming board chairmen. It will be a century's worth of celebration as we look back at 100 years of accomplishment by the Chamber and its members.
Tickets are available for individuals, for 10-person corporate tables and corporate lounge cabanas that include seating for 10. Learn how to register and more about this special event.

Business Benefits from Early Childhood

from the American Association of Chamber Executives authored by John Pepper, former CEO and Chairman of Proctor & Gamble, explains the business case for early childhood investment.

Senate Passes Road Funding Plan
The state Senate wasted little time in passing a road funding plan during a lame-duck session last week to create a wholesale tax on gasoline sales that could generate upwards of $1 billion per year toward Michigan's roads and related infrastructure. Chamber Government Relations Director Kent Wood outlines the proposal in this week's Northern Michigan Business Blog.
The proposal now heads to the state House. The Northern Michigan Chamber Alliance will continue tracking the proposal and keep its members up to date on its progress in the House.
