Dollars for Clean Energy Ideas

Federal funds are available to help companies develop and deliver market-driven clean energy technologies through the U.S. Department of Energy's Small Business Innovation Research and Technology Transfer programs. Funding is in advanced manufacturing, bioenergy, fuel cells, building construction, solar, vehicles and more.

The application process begins with a mandatory letter of intent applicants must file by December 15. The Department of Energy's website has more information, or contact U.S. Senator Debbie Stabenow's Traverse City office at 929-1031.

Labor, Visa Rules Review

The Chamber works hard to keep its members up-to-date on state and federal labor regulations that impact their operations. On Tuesday November 18, the Chamber welcomes federal labor investigator Randy Whitmire to present an overview of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FSLA) and information on the H-2B Non-immigrant Visa programs. Sleep Out Raises Nearly $19,000!
It was a cold night but another heart-warming outcome for the annual Sleep Out co-sponsored by the Chamber and the Northwest Michigan Community Action Agency. Thanks to the Sleep Out participants and support from Consumers Energy and DTE Energy, the Sleep Out raised $18,976 to be used by the NMCAA to help families in Northern Michigan keep up on their winter heating bills. That's more than $40,000 raised by the Sleep Out in the past four years.
