Outstanding Chamber Award goes to.... TC Area Chamber!

Congratulations to our members, board and staff of the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce, honored last week with the 2014 Outstanding Chamber of Commerce Award - Large Chamber Category by the Michigan Association of Chamber Professional at its annual conference in Muskegon.

"The (Chamber) received this award based on its accomplishments in leadership and governance, financial stewardship, business advocacy and member programming," said Bob Thomas, director for the MACP. It's the first time the Traverse City Area Chamber has been honored as the MACP's Outstanding Chamber in Michigan. Loan Funds Critical to Business Success

It was the middle of last winter when Dennis and Katy Bean-Larson of ERG Foods LLC found it tough sledding to continue production of their unique energy bars - until they secured a $7,500 Sub Micro Loan for their business through TraverseCONNECT.

"This loan kept us, literally, from being dead in the snowbank," Katy Bean-Larson told a group of fellow loan recipients at a reception last week co-hosted by Fifth Third Bank to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the popular loan program. It's supported by $50,000 each from Fifth Third Bank and the Traverse City Area Chamber Foundation.
