Vote 'Yes' to Renew School Millage

The Chamber's Board of Directors this month endorsed a "Yes" vote on Traverse City Area Public Schools' non-homestead millage renewal that goes before district voters on Nov. 4.

  • The levy will continue TCAPS' 18-mill operating millage for non-homestead properties -primarily businesses and second homes - that's been in place since 1999. It includes no change to the current tax rate.
  • The renewal is necessary for TCAPS to receive the state's full foundation allowance per pupil. The non-homestead millage generates approximately 36 percent of the district's annual operating budget.
