SBC Finalists Impress at Top 10 Breakfast

Any questions about the vitality of Northern Michigan's Small Business sector were emphatically answered this morning at the Chamber's Small Business Celebration Meet the Top 10 Breakfast event at NMC's Hagerty Center. Thanks to the folks that nominated more than 220 area businesses for this year's SBC, the two dozen companies that applied and to the 250-plus people who turned out for the Top 10 Breakfast.

The excitement continues to build for the SBC Awards Ceremony on May 29 starting at 4:30 p.m., where the Chamber will crown the 2014 Hagerty Small Business of the Year.  Click here to learn more about the Top 10 finalists and to register for the Awards Ceremony.

Chamber Foundation named Regional Fund Manager

The Traverse City Chamber Foundation took another major step as a regional Economic Development Organization (EDO) with its designation as a regional fund manager for ten Northern Michigan counties. That clears the way for releasing more than $2.5 million in federal Community Development Block Grant funds in the form of local business loans in Grand Traverse and Benzie counties - funding that will eventually be available for financing business projects across the region. Learn more in this column from Chamber President/CEO Doug Luciani published in the May edition of the Traverse City Business News.

Speed Networking + BAH = Business Contacts

The Chamber's Speed Networking events are a great opportunity for members to be guaranteed to connect with others to talk about their business - a pure, unapologetic networking opportunity and there are only 3 of them per year! The next session is May 21 from 4 - 5 p.m. at the Chamber office, right before this month's Business After Hours to be held at Integrity Home Healthcare in Traverse City.  Space for the Speed Networking is limited so register now by clicking here.

There's no registration needed for Business After Hours from 5 - 7 p.m. - just show up and make new friends!

Here Come Your Chamber Ambassadors

You're going to hear a lot in the coming weeks and months about the new Chamber Ambassador team. This dynamic group of a dozen Chamber volunteers will be asking you what your business needs to grow and succeed so the Chamber can respond and provide appropriate programs and resources if they don't already exist. If the things you need are already available, your Ambassador will tell you about it and work to connect you to that resource.
