Dear Keep Williamson Beautiful Friends,

Wow! KWB staff and volunteers renewed their commitment to environmental outreach this year through nearly a hundred school programs in 2013!

Find out who were our top Environmental Readers and who inspired 770 green thumbs! And look for upcoming opportunities to continue to help keep our community clean, green and environmentally aware this summer.

Sincerely,

Laurie Rousseau

Friends of the Library Readers
Friends of the Library volunteer, Jennifer Scarbrough, read "In the Woods" to 2nd graders at Trinity Elementary.
Readers Reach Our Youth!
This past spring, 2nd graders throughout Williamson County Schools were treated to a very special story time!

KWB Volunteers, aka Environmental Readers, read books such as "Miss Maple's Seeds" and "In the Woods" to help kids get excited about recycling and taking care of our environment.

As one teacher with Trinity Elementary exclaimed, "The readers were delightful! Thank you again for caring so much about keeping our county beautiful and about our kids in Williamson County!"

In all, 64 volunteers read to 77 classrooms, reaching more than 1500 second graders! THANK YOU to all of our fabulous Enviro Readers! Want to know who were our top readers? Click here!
Tree Wise Program Inspires 770 Green Thumbs
Each student received a tree sapling to take home!

How do you transport, plant and care for trees? How many trees would we save if each person were to reuse a paper shopping bag for just one trip to the store?

These are just a couple of interesting facts that Williamson County fifth-graders learned during special Tree Wise programs this past spring!  In partnership with MTEMC, Keep Williamson Beautiful inspired 770 students to plant a tree sapling and help conserve this amazing natural resource.
Save the Date: You Can Make a Difference This August!
Keep Williamson Beautiful is joining the Williamson County Fair on August 2 - 9, 2013 with an information booth and family-friendly activities! Highlights planned include performances by Mr. Barry the Recycle Magician and hands-on recycled crafts such as nifty scrapbook souvenirs.

Your help is needed to reach an estimated 100,000 visitors!

Green Living Tip: Aerosol Can Recycling
Should you remove the spray nozzle from an aerosol can before recycling?

Nope! Leave the nozzle and can intact, as the pressurized cans can cause a potential hazard if punctured. However, please make sure the container is empty before disposal!
