What is branding? What image does your brand portray to the public? Have you considered rebranding your nonprofit? Join other CVNA colleagues in learning about the process and importance of a strong brand. The Community Foundation and Cohesive Creative and code, a brand design and digital agency based in Hudson, will present a real life case study reflecting on the CFNEIA journey this past year. Presenters will be Kaye Englin and Jake Byers with CFNEIA, and Mike Tyler and Chris Corkery with Cohesive.

Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa 60th Anniversary Capacity Building Grant
In celebration of its 60th Anniversary, the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa is offering nonprofits the opportunity to secure a $50,000 grant that can help them reach their next 60 years.
CFNEIA will be awarding 1 to 2 recipients with all or a portion of the $50,000 funding. Organizations must be serving residents of Black Hawk County. The Capacity Building grant application starts with a Letter of Intent qualifying process. Letters of Intent must be completed through the Foundation's online grant application system by June 30.
Organizations can submit up to 2 Letters of Intent. If invited to submit a full application, organizations will be asked for a comprehensive project budget and timeline, as well as more in-depth detail of the project. Letter of Intent decision notifications will be sent on July 29, 2016.

Cedar Valley Read-A-Thon...
|
Cedar Valley Campaign for Grade-Level Reading (CGLR) will join Penguin Random House, the American Library Association, and fellow readers across the country for the second annual National Read-a-thon Day.
When: Saturday, May 21, 2016
Where: Waterloo Public Library
Time: 1:00-2:30 p.m.
The CGLR will co-sponsor a community wide read-a-thon with the Waterloo Public Schools and Waterloo Public Library. The theme for the local read-a-thon is "On Your Mark, Get Set, Read." The purpose of the read-a-thon is to promote summer reading, educate about summer slide and provide summer reading tips to keep children learning during the summer.
Guest readers will be there to read to children while they munch on cookies and popcorn. Also, during the event we will honor all-star readers from each of the local elementary schools who were the top readers in their schools. The first 100 families will receive a free book courtesy of Waterloo Public Schools.

Grant Applications Please...
|
The Iowa Women's Foundation (IWF), with support from its Board of Directors and supporters, is now accepting applications for its 2017 grants. In 2016, IWF awarded more than $89,000, the largest amount in their history and will award even more in 2017.
IWF awards grants to fund Iowa non-profit programs that focus on empowering women and girls through training, resources and financial literacy. An RFP is available online at iawf.org.
In order to be considered for a grant, nonprofit organizations must complete an application. Eligibility requirements and the application are available at www.iawf.org. All applications are due by 5:00 p.m. May 31, 2016.

Nonprofit Training Day Opportunity...

Please join us for our 2016 Non-Profit Training Day
When: June 14
Time: 8:00 AM-4:00 PM (registration begins at 7:15)
Where: Mt. Mercy Graduate Center in Cedar Rapids.
Cost: $30 per person (includes sessions, continental breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack)
Participation is open to anyone who works or volunteers at a non-profit organization.
This professional development event for non-profit staff and volunteers provides a way for our chapter to give back to our communities by offering high quality training at a low registration rate that covers our costs.

Job Title: Community Trainer
Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa is experiencing tremendous growth. As a result, we are seeking dedicated and caring individuals to join our team as Community Trainers. If you have a passion for helping others or are looking for a new and rewarding career, we want to hear from you!
Community Trainers provide residential and/or vocational training and services to persons with disabilities and/or disadvantages. We currently have full and part-time openings available in Waterloo, Cedar Falls, Waverly, Jesup, and surrounding communities. Qualifications and requirements include: a high school diploma or equivalent, preferred; ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, overnights, and holidays; and a reliable vehicle to transport clients, a valid driver's license, a good driving record, and current auto insurance.
Job Title: Sales Associate
Goodwill Industries of Northeast Iowa is looking for self-motivated and dependable individuals to join our Waterloo/Cedar Falls retail team as Sales Associates. Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: answering customer questions and needs, operating a cash register, receiving and processing donations, rotating merchandise, and maintaining store cleanliness and organization.

Job Title: Administrative Assistant
The Administrative Assistant's primary job duties include handling all phone and walk-in contacts to the Food Bank while providing administrative support to staff. The Administrative Assistant will aid with basic bookkeeping, general office duties, and special events. Strong customer service, computer and writing skills are required. Attention to detail is critical. Associates Degree or HS Diploma and four years comparable work experience.
