gathering space for strategic planning, staff enrichment, board and
committee involvement and other important gatherings for nonprofit
organizations. We are grateful to the late Ike Leighty for his generous
support of this community space and his vision for a strong nonprofit
community. We are honored to partner with our nonprofit friends as we
all seek to create stronger, more vibrant communities and provide vital
opportunities and services to the people in our region. Click here for more information.
Webinar Opportunity...
At the heart of large-scale solutions to social problems are some of the most accomplished leaders you've never heard of: network leaders. Network leaders actively catalyze networks (or organizations that function like networks), leading to an exponential increase in growth and scale beyond what an organization could accomplish on its own. As they expand and evolve their networks, they make sure that their own power fades and the capacity of others grows. This two-part webinar series will present key principles and practical tools necessary to cultivate a network entrepreneur's approach to leadership in your organization.

The Network Leader Mindset
Presented by Jane Wei-Skillern, Marty Kooistra, & Jean Horstman

When:     March 8, 2016
Time:      1:00 - 2:00 p.m. CST
Location: Philanthropy Center

This webinar will:
  • Explain why networks are critical catalysts for change
  • Examine the four principles crucial for network leader success
  • Describe the critical mindset shift that leaders must undergo in order to achieve network-level impact
  • Provide practical lessons that they can apply in their own organizations, sectors, and fields

The Network Leader Roadmap

Presented by David Sawyer, David Ehrlichman, David Haskell, & Curtis Ogden

When:    March 22, 2016
Time:     1:00-2:00 p.m. CST
Location: Philanthropy Center

This webinar will:
  • Explain how networks can enable public, private, and social sector leaders to achieve impact with greater agility while utilizing existing resources
  • Provide practical techniques, exercises, and convening designs that enable groups to rapidly build a capacity for finding common ground
  • Introduce paths for identifying shared values and a shared purpose across diverse actors
  • Set forth a clear roadmap for launching and sustaining networks that can drive innovation and impact both within organizations and across systems.

CVNA Member Spotlight...

Together For Youth is a coalition of community partners working together to improve adolescent sexual health outcomes and strengthen young families. We offer a package of adolescent pregnancy prevention programming and we also have a weekly support and education group for pregnant and parenting teens called Young Parents Together (YPT). Black Hawk County is celebrating another historic decline in our teen births; in 1995 we had one of the highest rates of teen births in Iowa with 17.5% of teens giving birth (264 teens total) compared to 2014 we have 5.2% of teens (92 teens total) that gave birth.

We continue to provide a weekly teen parenting group to offer education and support to teens and their children. This collaborative effort between multiple community agencies focuses on helping teens finish school, deliver healthy birth weight babies, prevent subsequent unplanned pregnancies.

We offer many services on a weekly basis including depression screens, developmental screens, access to community agencies, and parent/child activities.  If you are working with someone that would like to attend YPT they can contact Libby  at 319.231.9373.

You can review their annual report by clicking here.
