1 Million Cups Cedar Valley

When:  Wednesday, October 7, 2015
Where:  Waterloo Center for the Arts, 225 Commercial Street, Waterloo

Join us every 1st and 3rd Wednesday for 1 Million Cups Cedar Valley! This event is free and open to the public, and whether you're an entrepreneur, business owner or simply have an interest, we encourage you to make it out for a cup of coffee.

Job Title:  Program Internship

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northeast Iowa seeks candidates for our volunteer Program Internship opportunities at our Waterloo office. Program Interns assist with the logistics of our one-to-one mentoring program and help our agency prioritize child safety and positive youth development. Interns will work closely with our program staff team. 

The intern will create a professional development plan during the second week of the position that will identify professional and personal goals, action steps, and the learning that will need take place to ensure a successful internship experience. The Program Intern will work at our Waterloo office located at: 2530 University Ave, Suite 8, Waterloo, IA 50701

The Waterloo office location is open Monday-Friday from 8AM-4:30PM and interns can choose their schedule based on our agency's schedule.  We can be flexible to class internship requirements and are also happy to work with students who would like to gain the experience of an internship outside of a class.

Volunteers Needed...


Exciting things are happening with Iowa Heartland Habitat for Humanity with the grand opening of our ReStore on October 31, 2015. 

The ReStore is a discount home improvement store that sells donated building materials to the general public. Proceeds help build Habitat for Humanity homes in your community. The ReStore will offer new opportunities for volunteers who want to do something other than build on the construction site.

CVNA Member Spotlight ...

The Black Hawk County Gaming Association is a corporation that holds and maintains a license to conduct gambling games in accordance with the Iowa Excursion Boat Gambling Act. The Black Hawk County Gaming Association benefits the Cedar Valley by:
  • Providing property tax relief to cities and counties
  • Funding capital improvements
  • Making charitable contributions
The Black Hawk County Gaming Association funds programs, projects and activities for organizations and communities in seven Iowa counties. Our primary focus is Black Hawk County. We also serve Bremer, Buchanan, Butler, Chickasaw, Grundy and Tama counties.

The Board of Directors of the Black Hawk County Gaming Association is interested in awarding grants that will make the Cedar Valley a stronger, better place to live.  It places particular emphasis on proposals that enhance public facilities; create, replace or upgrade substantial capital items; or create new opportunities where none now exist.
