Please join us on December 5th for our 3rd annual Legislative forum. Kaye Englin will be this years moderator. If you have specific concerns or questions, please email Kaye prior to the event.
This is a great avenue for you to have your voice heard. Sing Me To Heaven is a great example of having their voices heard. Last year they voiced their concern of having no state funding to cover the burial costs of young children. Representative Bob Kressig listened to them and took this concern seriously. He is pushing for legislation that would help low-income families pay for child burials. Please click here to read the article.

Grant Money Available -- Apply Today...

$10,000 available to community nonprofits through Teen Trust program
The Teen Trust grant application for 2014-2015 will be available November 5, 2014. Non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations located in Black Hawk County may apply for funding. The Teen Trust Board of Directors is a group of 25 area high school students responsible for the allocation of $10,000 in grant funds to support projects that address community needs. The online application deadline is midnight (CST) December 15, 2014.
Teen Trust, a program of the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa, empowers and challenges young people to run their own youth foundation. Trustees address and seek solutions to community needs, raise endowment funds, and make charitable grants. Teen Trust is a philanthropic training program, instilling high school students with the skills needed to be a leader in their community now and in the future.

Area Metropolitan Planning Organization and Iowa League of Cities and Grant Writing USA will present a two-day grants workshop.
What: Grants Training
When: Two-Day Workshop December 8 - 9, 2014
Where: Des Moines
