Welcome to Cedar Valley Connections, a newsletter to connect the leaders of the nonprofit sector. 


Volunteers Needed...

 

Waverly RAGBRAI Needs YOU! 

Waverly's RAGBRAI planning team is gearing up to showcase Waverly to this year's RAGBRAI riders and their support teams.

 

Many have already signed up to give their time, but we are still in need of HUNDREDS of volunteers! 

 

There are many opportunities for all. Please consider giving your time as an individual or gather a  group (co-workers, friends, neighbors, clubs, etc) for some fun.

 

RAGBRAI will be here on Thursday, July 24. Daytime and evening time slots are available as well as opportunities before and after the 24th! We have something for everyone!

What:   10th Annual Hearth Fest
When:  Sunday, August 17, 2014
Where: Gateway Park - Cedar Falls, Iowa  
Time:   2:00 - 8:00 p.m.
Cost:    Monetary and non-perishable food donations

Please join the Northeast Iowa Food Bank for their 10th Annual Hearth Fest.  This is a fun music and arts festival that benefits the Northeast Iowa Food Bank.   

There will be a silent auction, craft sale, acoustic music, poetry contests and kids activities, including a kid's poster art contests for prizes, "Karma Cafe", homemade pies and coffee and the Dean of Juggling will be making an appearance.

Please bring the entire family to enjoy and support the Northeast Iowa Food Bank. 

Did you know for every dollar donated, you could help provide 4 meals to those in need?

Job Title:  Program Manager
 
Job Description:  The person in this position will work closely with the Program Director to effectively implement and deliver grants, scholarships, and community initiatives programs. This position will work directly with community stakeholders across northeast Iowa including grantees, fund holders, volunteers, and staff. 

 

Bachelor's degree required or equivalent combination of education and experience, 3+ years' experience preferred in a non-profit or profit role, experience in managing and improving processes and procedures, proven ability to partner/collaborate with key stakeholders, excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communications skills

Job Title:  Cedar Valley Area Development Coordinator
 
Job Description:  Acquires necessary financial and volunteer resources to support programs through direct marketing of programs and manages assigned special events for the Cedar Valley Area.  The position also implements public relations plan to develop broader market base and leads the Cedar Valley Area Board of Directors.

Bachelors degree or equivalent experience.  Two years JA or related sales experience with strong sales expertise and performance, proven written/oral communication, and organizational/planning skills.

Funding source:  Telligen Community Initiative

 

Website:  www.telligenci.org This site simply and succinctly lays out the proposal process for this grant cycle and gives you access to the grant application approach and tools to make your project submission.

 

Funding focus:  Our areas of funding interests largely revolve around 1) projects and programs that seek to improve and assure access to quality health access for the under served and 2) innovative efforts to improve access to and encouragement of students acquiring the skills to successfully address health care workforce development opportunities of all kinds. 

 

Geographic focus:  Projects taking place throughout Iowa and Illinois.  Applicant determined definition of community that could be as small as a neighborhood or census tract and as large as multi-county or statewide project.  Again, the scope is in the hand of the applicant/applicant coalition and their vision for the proposed work. 

Grant size and duration:  Maximum per grant project award amount of $50,000, though projects of smaller sizes are welcome.  Please plan your proposals for a single year project period with a planned grant start date of 1/1/2015.

 

Deadline:  Grant proposals are due to Telligen Community Initiative by July 15, 2014.  Additional information on downloadable proposal templates and required attachments for submission is available at www.telligenci.org .
